Travelling in the sky train in Bangkok I realized that the word a good friend of mine and I used to describe our impressions of Shanghai is applicable also here: Globalism…which means globally we are all the same..same brands, same trends, same cities… Yes. The train was packed and 90% of people had either an iphone, a Blackberry or a Nokia and were texting or listen to music or speaking!

But..consumerism has no limits. This morning, in our 8.30 am flight from Bangkok to Chian Rai, we were sitting behind and american family that was staying at our hotel. A family with three oversized teenagers. As soon as the plane took off and we were allowed to use electronic devices, the five of them: mom, dad, son1, son2, daughter, connected their own ipad to watch movies… 5 ipads!!! And of course with Senheiser earphones.. 5 !!!

That is about 3500 euros vs 100 that would have been the cost of 5 books…

Sabado 8 de Enero.

Viajando en el metro aereo de Bangkok me di cuenta de que la palabra que usamos una amiga y yo para describir nuestras sensaciones en Shanghai se podia user prefectamente en Bangkok: “globalismo”…que significa que globalmente todos somos iguales, mismas marcas, mismas tendencias, mismas ciudades. Si, el tren iba hasta la bandera y el 90% de gente iban con su BlacBerry, iPhone o Nokia, escribiendo, hablando o escuchando musica.

Pero el consumismo no tiene limites. Esta mañana en el vuelo de las 8.30 de Bangkok a Chiang Rai, estabamos sentadas tras una familia americana que estaba en nuestro hotel, una familia con tres adolescentes con sobrepeso.Tan pronto como despegó el avión y se nos permitió el uso de aparatos electrónicos, los cinco (mama, papa, hijo 1, hijo 2, hija ) conectaron sus ipads para ver pelis… 5 ipads!!! Y porsupuesto auriculares Sennheiser.. 5!!!

Esos son unos 3500 euros..comparado con 100 euros que les hubiera costado 5 buenos libros…

Of course, travel friends! What are travel friends ? Those people who travel with you which might be just travel companions, or true friends, or family, or your loved one. In this case, I have a bit of everything here! Let me introduce you to my loved friends – P, C, + M:

Listas / Lists

Soy una obsesa de las listas, lo reconozco. Antes de cada viaje suelo hacer listas de lo que me voy a llevar. Curiosamente el orden es el siguiente:

- Guías: esta vez, C ya lleva la Lonely Planet así que yo voy a llevar otra.

- Libros que me llevo para leer: aún no se cuales. Para dos semanas supongo que me llevaré cuatro: novela fácil, novela best seller ( es el mejor tiempo para leer este tipo de novelas ), libro espiritual ( tengo en espera los del Monje que vendió su Ferrari ), y por supuesto algún libro de trabajo ( Management, Marketing , Comunicación o similar )

- Libretas: no puede faltar una libreta pequeña para apuntar ideas sobre la marcha, y la libreta diario

- Música: ah!! mi pasión! Música para el coche, música para el ipod, música para compartir..

- Farmacia: con mi alergia a los mosquitos y a los espacios cerrados ahí tengo un filón

- Cámaras fotográficas: la pequeña para fotos rápidas y espontáneas y la reflex para mis fotos pensadas. Objetivos, trípodes…

- Comunicación: móvil, pda, portátil?

- Cremas: para el sol, para después del sol, para el cuerpo, …

- Mar: gafas, tubo

- Ropa: por supuesto ropa comoda ( uy, y tengo que comprar un nuevo bikini … o ir a playas nudistas)

Claro, que finalmente las listas se quedan en eso, en listas, y el día antes, ya veré lo que me llevo!!!.. porque las cosas, son solo eso, cosas! Lo más importante es llevar bueno humor, paz, corazón abierto, y poros abiertos para recibir todo lo bueno en cada momento!

I’m obsessed with lists, I recognize it. Before travelling I tend to do lists of the things I want to take with me. The order normally is the following:

- Guides: this time C is taking the Lonely Planet, so I will take another one.

- Books: I still don’t know which books I am taking. For two weeks I guess I will take four books: an easy novel, a best seller  novel ( the best time to read this type of novels ), spiritual book ( I have on my pile a couple of the Monk who sold his Ferrai ), and of course a “work” book ( Management, Marketing, PR or something similar ).

- Notebooks: absolutelty a must! a pocket notebook to write down spontaneous ideas and thoughts, and the standard notebook to write down more thought ideas and projects.

- Music: aha!! my passion! Music for the car, music for the ipod, music to share…

- Medicines: a long lists due to my allergies to mosquito bites and closed spaces…

- Photography: the small one for quick and unexpected photos and the reflex for thought photos. Lenses, tripod…

- Communication: mobile, pda, laptop?

- Creams: for the sun, for after the sun, for the body..

- Sea: diving glasses, gears..

- Clothes: of course very confortable! ( ooops, have to by a new bikini … or go nudists! )

But of course, lists always remain being simple lists, and the day before,  I will see what I take!!..because THINGS are just that, things!! The most important to take with is good sense of humour, peace, open heart, and open skin to receive all the good of each moment!

Esta vez si, esta vez va en serio. Mis últimos intentos de blogs personales se han convertido en blogs profesionales que tampoco llevo al día por cierto, pero esta vez esto va dedicado a vosotros, y por ello asumo el compromiso de actualizarlo. De momento estoy decidiendo que colores, fotos, y “widgets” utilizo ..pero estad atentos !! La FOLKY ATACA!!!

Pienso escribir de todo, sin censura, porque yo lo valgo, y porque así soy yo, y porque sólo escribo para la gente que quiero !
